GOLIAD, Texas (AP) ? A pickup truck overloaded with passengers veered off a highway and crashed into trees in rural South Texas, killing at least 13 people and leaving 10 injured, authorities said.

Border Patrol was assisting in the investigation into the Sunday evening crash in Goliad County, about 150 miles northeast of the border with Mexico. It was not immediately clear if those involved were illegal immigrants.

Gerald Bryant, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at least 23 passengers, were crammed inside the truck's cab and bed, including at least two young children whom he saw among the dead.

"This is the most people I've seen in any passenger vehicle, and I've been an officer for 38 years," Bryant said, referring to the chaotic scene in Goliad County.

The white 2000 Ford F-250 pickup was heading north on U.S. 59 on Sunday evening when it drove off the right side of the highway near the unincorporated community of Berclair in Goliad County and struck two large trees, Bryant said. Berclair is about 90 miles southeast of San Antonio.

Border Patrol, state troopers and Goliad County sheriff's investigators were investigating what caused the single-vehicle crash.

"It's unknown whether or not (the victims) were illegal, but it's possible," Bryant told the AP.

Adrian Fulton, a funeral director at Victoria Mortuary Services where 11 of the bodies were taken, said representatives from the Mexican Consulate were on the scene Sunday night.

Authorities initially said 11 people had died. Early Monday, Department of Public Safety dispatcher Cynthia Duffield in San Antonio said another two had died at hospitals overnight.

Six of those who died were still inside the mangled vehicle truck when emergency crews arrived at the scene, Bryant said.

"It's been very chaotic here, and it's very traumatic," Bryant told the San Antonio-Express News.

He told The Associated Press that several of the surviving victims had life-threatening injuries. He did not have their official conditions but described them as "very serious." The injured were taken to hospitals in San Antonio, Victoria and Corpus Christi.

A Goliad County sheriff's spokesman did not immediately return a message left by the AP.

Young Breast Cancer Survivors Group Receives Final Investing In ...

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. ? The Young Survivors Group at the Women?s Center of Jacksonville will be able to continue to help young breast cancer survivors thanks to a recent $1,000 grant won through Community First Credit Union?s Investing in You contest. The grant will help secure a location for monthly meetings, provide educational materials and fund outreach efforts for the Young Survivors Group.

Bobbi de C?rdova-Hanks, founder of Bosom Buddies, a longtime support group for breast cancer survivors of all ages, said the Young Survivors Group emerged from the Bosom Buddies group about two years ago as they discovered a need for more age-specific discussions. The Young Survivors Group, created to assist breast cancer survivors between the ages of 18 and 45, was in danger of being disbanded due to lack of financial support until the organization won this grant.

?Breast cancer is an ongoing battle that presents young women with a unique set of issues to confront,? said Jennifer Lewis, a Young Survivors Group member who was diagnosed at age 38. ?The Young Survivors Group provides these women with a forum to share their experiences, treatment options and support with others in similar situations.?

The Young Survivors Group is the sixth winner to receive a grant through the Investing in You contest. The initiative, launched in April, invited community members to submit ideas to make the First Coast a better place. The credit union awarded $1,000 every two weeks for 90 days. Semi-finalists were chosen based on which ideas received the most ?likes,? with a panel selecting the winners that would receive grant funding from Community First.

The five previous winners include:

• JumpingFish?? a nonprofit group advocating for First Coast waterways
• Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary?- a big cat rescue in need of a new cabin and platforms for its five tiger cubs
• Rethreaded?? an organization helping local victims of the sex trade industry restart their lives through a t-shirt recycling business
• Camp Maddie?? a therapeutic camp that provides grief recovery and support services to children affected by homicide
• The S.T.A.R. Group?? a new support group for parents with autistic children

BofA, Wells Fargo rolling out new mobile banking services

(Reuters) - Bank of America Corp and Wells Fargo & Co are rolling out more retail services accessed by mobile phones, including check deposits, as the banking sector races to cut costs in a tepid economy.

Starting Thursday, Bank of America will allow customers to make deposits by submitting a photo of a check through their smart phones, the bank's online and mobile banking executive, Aditya Bhasin, said on Monday. The No. 2 U.S. bank is also rolling out a service allowing customers to send money to other individuals using their email address or mobile numbers, as well as expanding a coupon service that can be used by mobile customers.

Wells Fargo launched its mobile check deposit service earlier this year and will gradually expand it across the United States by the end of the year, said Brian Pearce, head of the retail mobile channel at the bank. Earlier this year, the No. 4 U.S. bank launched its money transfer service, which is part of a joint venture between Wells, Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase & Co called clearXchange.

The latest roll-outs mean two of the largest U.S. banks are adding mobile banking services that are increasingly popular with consumers. Combined, Bank of America and Wells Fargo have nearly 20 million active mobile banking users across the United States.

Executives at both banks stress they are focused on evolving customer needs, but banks for decades have also been looking to cut costs by moving transactions to ATMs, online banking sites and now mobile devices.

Banks are hoping new mobile services will eventually cost less than handling transactions in branches, even if there are high upfront costs, said Peter Olynick, card and payments leader at Carlisle & Gallagher Consulting Group.

Bank of America Chief Executive Officer Brian Moynihan has said that increasing mobile use can help the bank scale back on branches and therefore cut costs.

"It is just a much more efficient and frankly strong service model," he said during the bank's second-quarter earnings conference call last week.

The bank previously said it plans to eliminate 750 branches over the next few years and, in the past year, it has quietly shed about 9 percent of its ATMs. The bank now has about 5,600 branches and 16,200 ATMs.

Bank of America spokeswoman Tara Burke said the bank's ATM numbers declined as it removed machines at Simon Property Group Inc malls and in Valero Energy Corp convenience stores. Many of these locations did not allow for check deposits or have 24-hour access, she said.

While the bank's ATM numbers are shrinking, its total active mobile users increased by about 600,000 to 10.3 million in the second quarter of this year from the first quarter.

Mobile payments can also help Bank of America defend its business from non-bank rivals such as eBay Inc's PayPal Inc, which are increasingly encroaching on banks' payments businesses, including person-to-person transactions, Carlisle & Gallagher's Olynick said.

"The banks that are not as aggressive are at risk to other entrants and other banks that are going aggressively after this," Olynick said.

Rivals JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup Inc , for example, already offer the check deposit service.

"Mobile deposit capture has been really positively received," said Beth Robertson, director of payments research at consulting firm Javelin Strategy & Research. "It makes things so much easier for consumers and small business."

Banks are keen to defend their position in the payments processing business, which can generate big revenue for them. Banks make about $14 billion of annual fees from processing debit cards for merchants, Javelin estimates. Credit cards are even more lucrative, with interchange fees paid in 2011 by merchants to Visa Inc and MasterCard Inc banks coming in at $22.75 billion, according to industry publication The Nilson Report.

AN INTEGRAL PART OF LIFE

In another service available for mobile customers, Bank of America is expanding a coupon program that allows customers to receive discounts from retailers by clicking on offers sent directly to their online banking accounts. The bank began testing BankAmeriDeals in January and is now making it available across the United States by early August, Bhasin said.

The strategy offers discounts to customers, while also encouraging customers to use their Bank of America debit and credit cards.

"There are more rewards for them and more benefits for us as well," Bhasin said.

Meanwhile, Wells Fargo, which has 8.5 million active mobile users, started allowing customers to deposit checks with their phones in May, Pearce said. It is now available in six states, plus California's Bay Area, and should be nationwide by the end of the year.

The bank in May also unveiled its own person-to-person money transfer service, which allows customers to send money to other individuals using a mobile number or email address, rather than an account number. The bank currently allows customers to send money to Wells Fargo and Bank of America customers, but will add JPMorgan recipients by year's end.

Bank of America money transfer service allows customers to send money to individuals with accounts at all three banks, plus others. JPMorgan said it has not rolled out a clearXchange program yet.

Banks are increasingly finding that mobile banking is critical for interacting with their customers, Wells Fargo's Pearce said.

"This mobile lifestyle has emerged," he said. "People take their mobile devices everywhere they go and it's become this integral part of their life."

London 2012 Olympics: Foreign visitors queue for six hours to get their Olympic tickets

Purchasers from the United States, Australia, Sweden and Canada had to stand outside in temperatures approaching 27C at a college in Paddington because of an administrative blunder by ticket agency CoSport.

Staff at the company, which has the exclusive rights to sell ?premium packages? to seven countries, were struggling to issue tickets that had been bought online.

By 1pm today a queue of more than 200 people was snaking out of the doors of the City of Westminster College?s Paddington campus, where the tickets were due to be picked up.

Some visitors are thought to have left without collecting their tickets because they could not be found, while those who did wait had to cover their heads with coats and umbrellas because of the heat.

John Schrader, 54, from Adelaide, was nearing the college entrance after waiting for four hours to pick up basketball, swimming and athletics tickets.

He said: ?You have several hundred people queuing for four, five, six hours, this is a significant public safety issue. You could have people collapsing or fainting. People are getting dehydrated and are in the sun.

?I feel very sorry for the staff and volunteers because they are the victims of incompetence up the food chain.?

Derek Reimer, 64, from Canada, spoke to the Standard after waiting two-and-a-half hours with his family.

The retired archivist bought tickets to see Canada play Japan in the women?s football in Coventry on Wednesday as part of a trip to Britain to visit relatives.

He had not planned to come to London but CoSport told him he could not pick up his tickets, as planned, in Shrewsbury, where he is staying.

He said: ?The irony is that there are thousands of tickets for sale for this game. I assume we could just walk up and buy a ticket. CoSport has handled things abominably. The only thing they are good at is taking your money.?

David Prais, 48, from Uxbridge, spent more than three hours to collect several tickets, including some for Taekwondo for friends whose daughter is competing for the US team.

He said: ?It doesn?t cast the Olympics organisers is a very good light. Clearly there are people in the queue where one of their first experiences of this country is to pick up their tickets, and what a disaster that is.?

No one from CoSport was available to comment. On its website, the company describes itself as ?the leading provider of consumer hospitality packages and individual event tickets to the Olympic Games.?

Sennheiser MM 550-X

Can't decide if you want a wired or wireless pair of headphones, or one with active noise cancellation or without? If you've got the cash, you can have it all with the Sennheiser MM 550-X ($499.95 direct), an extremely well designed set that covers practically every situation you'd ever encounter. It also sound pretty amazing. It's not the best $500 pair of headphones we've heard?wired models still win in the end?but it certainly sounds fantastic, even over Bluetooth. Sennheiser's active noise cancelling is somewhat less successful, as it's not the most effective we've heard and also affects the otherwise pristine sound quality more than it should. But even so, this headphone pair is still an easy recommendation.

Design, Accessories, and Controls
The MM 550-X is a closed, around-the-ear design, and weighs 6.3 ounces with the battery inserted. Both the earcups and the headband are heavily padded, and the soft padding feels quite comfortable. You get quite a lot of passive noise cancelling just from the tight seal the earcups form with the MM 550-X on your head. The headset is also a bit lighter than some larger pairs of wired headphones, like the venerable Sennheiser HD 650 ($499.95, 5 stars) and the Bose QuietComfort 15 ($299.95, 4 stars). Even so, it feels quite rugged; the plastic, folding hinges in the headband and around the earcups in particular look especially sturdy.?

Sennheiser packs in a number of accessories. In addition to the headphones themselves and the rechargeable battery, you get a USB charging cable, a power plug with adapters for different countries, a stereo audio cable (2.5mm to 3.5mm) for use in wired mode, a 1/4-inch headphone adapter, an in-flight adapter for use with double mono jacks on airplanes, and a rugged, zippered cloth carrying case. The manual comes as a PDF file burned onto an included CD-ROM.

The controls are extremely easy to use even with the headphones on your ear. The center of the oversize five-way control-pad on the right earcup is large enough for an entire fingertip, and features a raised plastic circle around it, so that you can't miss it. Top and bottom control the volume, while left and right skip to the next track in either direction, all on devices that support remote control over Bluetooth. You can also hold down the Skip buttons to fast-forward or rewind the track. The bottom of the right earcup houses Bluetooth, NoiseGuard, and SRS buttons (more on these in a moment), as well as a 2.5mm jack for using the headphones in a wired configuration. The left earcup only has a covered micro USB charger port.

Hold down the multifunction button for five seconds, and the MM 550-X goes into pairing mode. You'll never miss that; not only does the control pad pulse red and blue, but the SRS and Bluetooth buttons light up as well. I had no problem pairing the MM 550-X with an Apple iPhone 4. The Multifunction button also handles accepting, rejecting, and ending calls, and you can transfer the ongoing call between the phone and the headphones?or activate voice dialing by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button.

Sound Quality and Noise Cancellation
Sennheiser's big pitch with the MM 550-X is apt-X audio encoding, which the company claims delivers wireless audio quality that is indistinguishable from the highest quality wired connection. Here's the trick, though: It only works if the sound source also supports apt-X. My iPhone 4 doesn't, but even so, I heard pristine audio in both wired and wireless modes. Both modes sounded virtually identical. I heard the tiniest bit of compression artifacts in wireless mode, in a slightly more closed soundstage and a touch of occasional harshness, but I had to strain to hear it.

Aside from that, sound quality was excellent overall. In The Knife's "Silent Shout," our standard bass test track, I heard a touch of distortion at top volumes, but none at normal listening levels?or even beyond. The overall sonic signature was warm, with a full-bodied low-end, exceptional low-end extension, a smooth midrange, and airy highs that didn't stick out but were still full of detail. On Queen of the Stone Age's "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret," it was easy to hear the multiple guitars and other instruments across the soundstage, while the rhythm section still had plenty of punch.

Pressing and holding the NoiseGuard button for two seconds activates the MM 550-X's active noise compensation system. It does this via a pair of tiny mics near the earcups that focus on ambient noise in the 20Hz to 1KHz range, and then use this noise as a template for generating an opposite wave, 180 degrees out of phase, to cancel the noise out. Press and hold a second time, and you'll turn NoiseGuard off.

With NoiseGuard on, the MM 550-X did a nice job of muting some strong office fans of various sizes. But you could still hear them more than you could with, say, the Bose QuietComfort 15. My main issue with NoiseGuard, though, was the reduction in fidelity; it turned the MM 550-X into an average pair of headphones you could buy for about $50, in terms of sound quality. The warmth disappeared, I heard the typical artifacts in the midrange that often betray active noise compensation, and nearly all of the MM 550-X's marvelous bass extension vaporized. Bose QuietComfort models are by no means musically neutral, but they seem to do a better job of compensating for the active noise cancellation circuitry.

TalkThrough, Other Features, and Conclusions
The TalkThrough function takes the audio recorded from the tiny mics and actually pumps it in the earcups. This way, you can hear what's going on around you without removing the headset, while still filtering out more distant background noise. You activate this by just briefly pressing the NoiseGuard button, instead of holding it down. When you do this, it pauses the music so you can talk to someone in the room; turn off TalkThrough, and the music will begin playing again.

Meanwhile, the SRS button is, well, as the SRS button. With SRS WOW HD engaged, the highs are exaggerated in the 5KHz region, as if you're listening to a cassette on a car stereo, with little top-end air or detail around them. The button also amplifies the bass even further, but with extra mud, as if the "bass" control on a cheap mini system is turned up without much in the way of granularity. My recommendation: Leave it off.

In my tests, MM 550-X wasn't that great at handling voice calls. I heard the other caller, but their voice sounded computerized, and I could barely hear my own words because of the tight seal of the earcups. I was hoping TalkThrough would be a good workaround for this problem, but if you activate it during a voice call, it does the same thing as it does with the music?it mutes the audio source and turns on the external mics, so you can't hear the caller anymore.

According to Sennheiser, the battery should provide 8 hours of continuous listening with Bluetooth and NoiseGuard (active noise cancellation) enabled, 10 hours over Bluetooth without NoiseGuard, and 20 hours in wired mode with NoiseGuard activated. It will last forever in wired mode without noise cancellation, because then it works just like a regular pair of headphones. The LED indicator flashes red when the battery is almost dead.

One other minor quirk: You need to take care when disconnecting the micro USB charging cable. Otherwise, you'll pull the battery clear out of the left ear cup, which isn't good if you don't notice it, and then leave the house without the battery inside. But there's a reason for this design: You can charge the battery pack either when it's inside the earcup or out, since the battery itself contains the micro USB charger port.

Overall, the Sennheiser MM 550-X is an extremely flexible set of headphones. You're paying for all of this technology, of course, and not all of the money is going into the actual sound quality. The MM 550-X sound good enough that you'll feel like it's money well spent, especially when using it wirelessly. Its active noise cancellation, while not class leading, is still fairly effective; if you want the best and don't need a wireless pair, the AKG K 490 NC ($249.95, 4.5 stars) or the older Bose QuietComfort 15 will still perform better there. If you don't specifically need Bluetooth compatibility or active noise cancellation, the Sennheiser RS 220 ($599.95, 4.5 stars) remains our Editors' Choice for high-end wireless headphones, with its stellar sound and comfort, although it is really designed for home use. The Sennheiser MM 100 ($149.95, 3.5 stars) is a more affordable and practical wireless option that still delivers solid performance. And if you don't mind an in-ear design, the wireless Sony XBA-BT75 ($299.99, 3.5 stars) sounds good and is very easy to tote, although it's still a little big when compared with standard stereo earphones.

New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and lawyers for the NFL arrived at federal court Monday for a settlement conference in Vilma's lawsuit seeking to overturn his season-long suspension in the Saints bounty investigation.

Flanked by his attorneys as he headed into federal court, Vilma said he was" hoping we can get something accomplished."

The conference was closed to the public.

Vilma and Saints coach Sean Payton have been suspended for the 2012 season for their roles in a bounty program the NFL says targeted opposition players for three seasons.

Vilma wants a federal judge to overturn his suspension. He also has filed a defamation lawsuit against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Laser eye surgery, often called LASIK surgery, is one of the most successful treatments available to restore poor or diminishing vision. A successful laser eye surgery means saying goodbye to glasses, contacts, and looking at the world with a perpetual squint. There are several conditions for which laser surgery has been successful:? Myopia, Hyperopia, and Astigmatism.? These conditions are usually the result of a misshapen or damaged cornea.? Once a patient has healed from LASIK surgery, improved vision is immediate.

Before understanding how this procedure works, it is important to understand a bit about how the eye works.? The main parts of the eye responsible for vision include:

• Cornea
• Sclera
• Iris
• Lens
• Pupil
• Retina
• Vitreous
• Humor
• Optic Nerve

?

The cornea covers the outer center of the eye. Its role is to bend, or refract, the light that enters through the pupil.? The light is directed into the iris, and continues through the lens and the vitreous. Eventually, this refracted light comes to a sharp point in the rear of the eyeball ? focused on the retina. The retina uses photoreceptor nerve cells to translate the light into electric impulses which travel down the optic nerve.

These electrical impulses are translated into an image by the brain.? Unfortunately, a damaged or misshapen cornea distorts the light and it can appear as more than one point on the retina.? This creates blurred and/or distorted images.

Laser Eye Surgery: A Solution For Myopia, Hyperopia, or Astigmatism

?

As mentioned above, a distorted cornea often causes the following conditions:

• Nearsightedness (Myopia)
• Farsightedness (Hyperopia)
• Astigmatism ? a separate condition where light fails to merge to a single point on the retina.

Laser eye surgery can usually fix the above conditions. After a routine eye exam, an optometrist or ophthalmologist can confirm whether or not laser eye surgery is an option for a patient.

There are three situations in which laser eye surgery should not take place:

• If a patient is younger than 18 years of age
• A patient who is pregnant
• A patient who is nursing

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Risk Manager for Existing Account Strategies and manage a dynamic, innovative team that is responsible for account management strategies within the MBNA and CUETS Credit Card TD Bank Financial Group. Job Requirements:
Education/Accreditations:

• Post secondary degree in Statistics/Applied Mathematics/MBA/Business/Finance/Economics is preferred. Post graduate degree would be an asset.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in Risk Management and business analytics, ideally within financial services.

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Experience managing and developing a team of direct reports
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including a strong competency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
• Experience with the use of SQL and SAS
• Working knowledge of SAS Enterprise Miner, FICO Model Builder or Angoss Knowledge Seeker.
• Experience in data modeling and risk management either from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific, or financial background.
